Medevac off Rotterdam

On Aug 3 the 2nd engineer of the "King Daniel" which was anchored in position 52°.08.8 N 003°43.0 E in the anchorage area 5 off Rotterdam had to be medevaced after a steel cable broke and hit him between eyelid and helmet. The man waa unconscious for some time and at 11:20 a.m a medevac requested. The 36-year-old Georgian man had been doing maintenance work, when the accident happened during the lifting of a heavy block. The KNRM lifeboat "Jeanine Parqui" of the station Hoek was tasked and arrived on scene at 12.15 p.m. The patient could descend the ladder and get aboard the lifeboat which took him to the Berg Port at 1.15 p.m. for further treatment at the Harbour Hospital in Rotterdam. When his ship entered port in the afternoon, he was expected back aboard again.
