German container ship saved 420 migrants
The "Santa Giorgina" saved 420 migrants between Libya and Malta after having left Al Khoms on Apr 12, 2015. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) in Rome alterted the ship at noon to assist a distressed boat. Two empty and damaged zodiacs which were located at 2.30 p.m. At 4 p.m. another location was tracked by the MRCC, and the crew of 22 started preparations to take on board migrants. Passengers of another boat panicked when also trying to get on board the "Santa Giorgina", some fell into the water and had to be saved. The migrants were quartered on the aft.
