Crew of bunker tanker exceeded number of working hours in a serious way
The Labour and Social Security Inspectorate has agreed with a complaint by the State Coordinator of Port Workers Union CETP in relation to an alleged excess number of hours worked by the crew of the "Bunker Breeze", which is operating in the bunkering service in the Bay of Algeciras. It has been proven that the 16 crew members have worked more than 72 hours in a period of seven days, which exceeds the established legal regulations. The reported infraction is considered serious. It is considered that the legislative precepts of the Workers' Statute have been violated in which it is indicated that, except in certain cases of force majeure, the resulting total working day may not exceed 14 hours for each 24-hour period, nor 72 hours for each seven-day period.
