After the "Alexia" berthed at Houston, coming from Hamburg, on Jan 5, 2011, FBI started investigates whether the death of a Ukrainian sailor was a crime. He was found dead in his cabin New Year's Eve after he had a fight with another Ukrainian crew member. Eventually they both went to bed wounded, according to an eyewitness, but it seemed not so severe that the consequences could be deadly. At present, the cause of death is being examined. The FBI does not know how the matter should be further processed as the "Alexia" is a Dutch ship in international waters. But the Ukraine would be able to handle the case because the possible suspect and the victim are Ukrainians. On Jan 11 the "Alexia" sailed further to Savannah. KPRC-TV in Houston says the man who died aboard The Alexia was Ukrainian. The Alexia docked Wednesday night at the Port of Houston. FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap told The Associated Press that the circumstances of the death are under investigation. She says it appears the man died on New Year's Eve while at sea. The name of the victim and the cause of death have not been released. KPRC reports that the Consulate of Ukraine in suburban Houston says a suspect is in custody. Dunlap declined to describe the death as a homicide. The consulate did not respond to messages Thursday. Port of Houston Authority spokeswoman Lisa Ashley says the ship is unloading its cargo of steel. 01/06/2011 The Associated Press
