Barge was threatened to sink

Mon Oct 28 12:24:59 CET 2019 Timsen

On Oct 27, 2019, at 5.05 p.m. the 'Bontekoe Jr.', 767 ts (EU-No.: 03110472), was threatened to sink at the Lorentz Quay in Leeuwarden. The ship which was loaded with gravel started founder for unknown reason and was also leaking oil. The fire brigade was alerted and laid out oil booms around the ship. Pumps drained the incoming water and coped with the flooding. Rijkswaterstaat was handling the incident with the crew on board. A specialized company from Harlingen purified the water within the booms on Oct 28. The insurance and the company Wetterskip were also on site. The deployment of a diver was not excluded, because the leak has not yet been found.
