Tanker pursued off Ghana

In the morning of April 10,2020, the 'Bitu Attlantic' was approached by a suspicious boat off Ghana ni the Gulf of Guinea. The tanker was pursued for some time, but then the attempt broke off and the boat fled after about half an hour. The tanker didn’t stop or reduce speed, and continued the voyage from Agioi Thedoroi to Lome with an ETA as of April 11.

Investigations against captain and engineer following PSC

In the morning of March 23, 2020, officers of the Security Bureau of the Central Port Authority carried out an inspection aboard the 'Bitu Atlantic' at the anchorage of ​​Piraeus and launched investigations against the captain and 1st engineer who were accuesed of a violation of Article 155/29. 2001 of the National Customs Code and Article 45 CC. In the fuel tanks of the vessel an amount of 15.68 m/t diesel was found to exceed the allowed quantity of fuel, according to the ship's documents. The accused had to pay a safety fineof € 11,009,703. The ship which had arrived from Agio Theodoroi on March 20 remained moored in pos. 37° 51.72' N 023° 32.02' E as of March 25.
