Repairs nearly completed
Repairs to the "BBC Nagasaki" which had sustained a main engine breakdown while departing from Orkanger on Feb 21 were soon to be completed. The vessel had been owed to Trondheim Trials on March 2. Trials and tests were completed on Apr 23.
Disabled vessel under tow to repair yard
On Feb 21, 2018, the "BBC Nagasaki", sailing in ballast, sustained a main engine breakdown while departing from Orkanger. The damage was reported to main engine crankshaft. Two tugs re-berthed the vessel at Orkanger. Engine repairs starte alongside at Orkanger On March 2 the ship was taken in to the Fosen Mek. Verksted A/S in Trondheim by the Norwegian tug "TB Oyvag" (IMO: 5255129) at 5.30 p.m. where repairs started to the damage at the main engine crankshaft. A new crankshaft for the main engine will have to be installed. The estimated time repair completion was now the first week of April.
Thor Commander towed to Gladstone
The "Thor Commander" arrived in Gladstone on Jan 15 at 7 a.m. on Thursday and has docked at Auckland Point wharf with the assistance of the tug "Smit Leopard" after having suffered a main engine failure on Jan 11. The ship, originally destined for Townsville, was being towed to Gladstone by the Gladstone-based tug afterit left its base on Jan 12 in the morning and attached a line to the ship on Jan 12 afternoon. Now repairs to the engine were to be done.
