Kevin grounded on the Danube
On Aug 2, 2016, at 08:15 a.m. the "Kevin", 1526 ts (EU-No.: 04020060), which was sailing downstream on the Danube from Straubing towards Deggendorf with a cargo of 1758 tons construction steel wires suffered rudder failure. The crew managed to drop the stern anchor, but the ship got stuck with the starboard side aft on the right river shore. Ship traffic was hampered, but vessels could pass with slow speed. The Austrian salvage ship "Horst Felix" managed to pull the barge off on Aug 3. During the refloating attempt the river was closed for ship traffic in the curve near Pfelling for two hours. The "Kevin" was able to resume the voyage to its destination Enns then and arrived in the Austrian port on Aug 4. Ship emergency anchored on the Rhine and lost anchor
On Mar 25., 2015, around 9 a.m. the "Kevin", 1526 ts (EU-No.: 04020060), suffered engine failure on the Rhine at river km 532,60 at Aßmannshausen. The ship could be kept within the fairway with an emergency anchoring and was towed to Bingen one hour later. When the anchor was lifted, it broke apart and got lost at river km 532,50 within the fairway. The position was marked with a warning raft and ship traffic restricted. The anchor was to be recovered on Mar 26. The "Kevin" was prohibited to sail until the main engine was repaired and the anchor replaced.
