New RAstar 3200 from Robert Allan delivered to SAAM, Montevideo

Mon Oct 26 08:19:26 CET 2015 arnekiel

The 85 tonnes bollard pull, 32m long ARRIERO is the latest addition to the RAstar 3200 series of terminal support tug designs from Canada’s Robert Allan Ltd (RAL). Delivered to its owner, Chile-headquartered SAAM, in September this year, the new tug was built in China at the Bonny Fair Heavy Industry yard in Guangdong. It is the first of a series of four sister vessels being constructed by the yard for the owner and will be deployed at the port of Montevideo, Uruguay. ARRIERO has been built to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) requirements and achieved a free running speed of 13.8 knots during sea trials. Main propulsion comprises a pair of GE 8L250 diesel engines, each rated at 2,440kW at 1,050 rpm.
