Bison took casualty in tow
After the Situation with the "Andrey Osipov" was under control, also the "KBV 001" was released on Dec 11 at 11 p.m. The Swedish tug "Bison" (IMO: 9706085) was called from Stenungsund to take the vessel in tow, while the "Bess" returned to Stenungsund. Cargo ship distressed in storm off Gothenburg
Enroute from Baltiysk to Alexandria the "Andrey Osipov" suffered repeated engine problems and finally an engine blackout on Dec 10, 2014, short before midnight. The ship went adrift towards the coast of Måseskär with one knots in winds of 20 m/s and was emergency anchored four miles west of Tjorn. The Swedish Coastguard dispatched the patrol boat "KBV 001" from Gothenburg. Also the "KBV 032" responded, but was relieved on Dec 11 at 1 a.m. after the cargo vessel was assisted by the Norwegian tug "Bess" (IMO: 9086382) which was called from Stenungsund and connected at 00.40 a.m. The tug itself got a rope in the propeller at night and could not hold the vessel while the anchors of the "Andrey Osipov" did not take hold as the water than 40 meters deep. There was a crew of 15 on board. At 11 a.m. also the "KBV 001" departed as the sitution was under control.
