Allision and diesel spill in Norrköping

Sat Apr 15 18:29:53 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Apr 14, 2017, the "Andesborg" allided with the quay of the Pampus Port in Norrköping. The ship was about to berth at dock 2, coming from Rotterdam, at 11.45 a.m. A small hole was torn into the hull, and diesel started leaking out. The municipal rescue service was in place and has requested assistance from the Swedish Coast Guard because there were difficult conditions with strong winds. The Coast Guard has initiated a environmental rescue operation and deployed the "KBV 305", "KBV 310", "KBV 473" and the environmental protection vessel "KBV 050". Up to 1000 liters of diesel were estimated to have leaked out. The crew of the vessel started emptying the tank. At 3.45 p.m. The leakage was sealed. On-site devices were now focusing on recovering the diesel which has leaked out with absorbants which lasted well into Apr 15. The ship left the port again after repairs on Apr 21 around 1 a.m., being bound to Hamburg, ETA Apr 22, 2 a.m. Swedish reports with photos and video: http://www.nt.se/nyheter/norrkoping/fartyg-har-kort-in-i-kajenlacker-diesel-om4597250.aspx http://www.nt.se/nyheter/norrkoping/efter-krocken-sa-mycket-diesel-lackte-ut-om4598268.aspx
