Collision off Le Havre

Tue Feb 19 10:31:07 CET 2013 Timsen

On Feb 18, 2013, at 5 a.m. the French 11-m-trawler "L'Eclipse" from Trouville was in collision with the "Chantaco" which was enroute St. Nazaire-Le Havre, in the Bay of Seine off Cape Hève. The trawler was fishing with a crew of three when it was hit by the tanker in the anchorage area of Le Havre, ten miles west of the port. The fishing vessel was able to return to Port en Bessin for repairs. The crew was shocked but safe. The tanker which was carrying 17,000 tons of fuel oil escaped with scratches and damage at port side, while the trawler suffered hull damage above the water line. While the trawler returned to dock, the Cross Jobourg maintained regular radio contact.

ALGOTITAN 9333802

Tue Nov 09 10:56:48 CET 2010 Timsen

Coming from Riga the "Chantaco" ran aground northeast of Hävringe in the morning of Nov 9, 2010. Two ballast water tanks were breached, and the vessel developed a 5-degree-list to starboard. The ship was bound to Oxelösund and had a pilot on board. The ship had been at anchor northeast of Hävringe during the night but the anchor dragged and the vessel drifted aground within sight of Oxelösund. No spill reported.
