Ferry left port despite arrest
The Mamdouh Maritime Legal Solutions (MMLS) moved on June 18, 2014, to execute an arrest order for the "Al Hurreya" in the port of Safaga. The Red Sea Court issued Arrest Order Number 31/2014, signed on June 17. The action was initiated by MMLS client, Admiral Salem El Rafie, Executive Manager of United Captain Group Oil Services of Alexandria, due to unpaid maritime debits in excess of $900,000 USD owed to it by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense (MOD)-owned company, Marine Industries and Services Organization (MISO). Safaga Port Police and Port Defense allowed the "Al Hurreya" tipped-off to the imminent arrest, to abruptly exit the port before completing its contractual obligation. The arrest order remains active, and MMLS would continue pursuit of legal recourse on behalf of its client. The ferry was under contract for transport between Safaga and Duba, scheduled to return within the next ten days.
