Grounding on Paraná
The "Agia Eleni" ran aground on the Paraná river near km mark 343 at the top of Isla De Cattaneo, just below San Nicolas, on Sep 18, 2019 at 8.30 a.m. The vessel had been loaded with 28,600 metric tonnes of maize at the ACA berth in the port of San Lorenzo and had a sailing draught of 9.9 metres. The ship was proceeding downstream bound to Cienfuegos. The bulk carrier was refloated on Sep 19 around 11.50 p.m. a.m. with assistance of the two tugs "Tumbador I" and "Cooper Estibador 2" and taken to an anchorage at Ramallo Roads for inspection. The Coast Guard was performing the bathymetry in order to re-open the river for navigation.
