Allision in Marstal

The 'Ærøxpressen' upon its arrival from Rudkøbing allided with the dock in Marstal on March 29, 2020, at 10.20 a.m. in very strong northerly winds and a high water level. The ship settled over the quay and could not get free again. The tug 'Erria' was called to assist and managed to pull the ferry off which suffered some hull dents. In addition, some electricity was destroyed on the ferry dock, and sthe quay also suffered damage. The ferry sailed again from Marstal at 4.30 p.m. from Marstal despite the damages which needed to be fixed in the near future. Allision in Rudkøbing

On Feb 25, 2020, the 'Ærøxpressen', upon its arrival from Marstal, allided with the pier of the Konge Quay close to Løve's Warehouse in Rudkøbing in stormy weather. The wooden framework was broken, and cobblestones were pushed away at the ferry dock despite three very large fenders to protect the Konge Quay. All subsequent departures between the two ports were canceled until the weather improved. ÆrøXpressen arrived home

ÆrøXpressen have arrived at her homeport of Marstal at 9.15 (CET) today. The ferry have been build by Hvide Sande Shipyard, for the private ferry company ÆrøXpressen A/S, in order to restart the ferry route between Marstal and Rudkøbing. The route was discontiniued in 2012 after almost 150 years operation, after the ferry MARSTAL was shifted to the Ærøskøbing - Svendborg route. ÆrøXpressen will start the service Marstal - Rudkøbing in December with 5 - 7 daily roundtrips.
