Wed Oct 19 15:30:33 CEST 2011 Timsen

On Oct 19, 2011, at 8.20 a.m. the "Saron K" allided with a scaffold attached to the Bucholt Bridge crossing the Wesel-Datteln-Kanal at canal km 9,27 at Hünxe. The wheelhouse was torn off, the captain suffered severe face injuries and had to be treated in a special hospital. The canal had to be closed for ship traffic until 10.30 Uhr a.m. The boat of the fire rescue Wesel secured the ship at trees on the shore, before further salvage work was carried out and the ship later towed to Friedrichsfeld.
