JAXPORT welcomes first ZIM vessel

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) recently welcomed the ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. (ZIM) 10,070-TEU (container) Tianjin vessel on its maiden call to the port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal, the company said in its press release. JAXPORT offers worldwide cargo service from more than 40 ocean carriers and with the addition of ZIM, one of the world’s largest container shipping lines, ten of the world’s top 11 global carriers now offer service through the port.

Eagle LNG Partners Officially Opens Jacksonville’s First LNG Plant

Eagle LNG Partners (Eagle LNG) announced the official grand opening of its Maxville LNG Facility. The plant which has been operating since early 2018 has a production capacity of 200,000 liquefied natural gas (LNG) gallons-per-day with a 1 million-gallon storage tank. Maxville is built to supply Eagle LNG’s Marine Fuel Depot – Talleyrand located on the Port of Jacksonville’s (JAXPORT) Talleyrand Marine Terminal. Eagle LNG will fuel Crowley Maritimes’ two new LNG-powered Commitment Class ships for U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico trade from its Talleyrand marine fuel depot in addition to serving growing domestic and Caribbean needs for clean-burning, economical LNG. The Maxville plant currently loads LNG in ISO containers shipped to Puerto Rico for the pharmaceutical industry.

JAXPORT and Carnival Cruise Line reach historic long-term agreement

JAXPORT and Carnival Cruise Line have reached an agreement to extend Carnival cruise service from Jacksonville through at least May 2021 and potentially through 2027, the company said in its press release. Carnival Elation will continue offering year-round sailing to the Bahamas from JAXPORT’s North Jacksonville Cruise Terminal. The contract extends the cruise line’s service from Jacksonville for three years with three additional two-year renewal options. The agreement also calls for enhancements to the terminal building and passenger experience.
