Self discharger slammed into gas tanker

Thu Mar 31 20:54:46 CEST 2016 Timsen

During a berthing manoever in the Elbe Port Brunsbüttel the bulkcarrier "Yeoman Bridge" slammed into the starboard side of the berthed "Peary Spirit" in the evening of Mar 30, 2016, at 8.20 p.m. The hull of the tanker, which had come from Teesport, was breached on a length of 25-30 meters about nine meters above the water line. The unloading operation was immediately stopped, and no gas escaped. Also the "Yeoman Bridge" suffered damage above the water line. She had sailed from Glensanda on Mar 27. The "Yeoman Bridge", left the port of Brunsbüttel on Apr 1 at 6 a.m. and berthed in the Sea Port Basin 2 in Hamburg-Harburg at 11 a.m., assisted by the port tug "Michel" (IMO: 9689081). New Container Shipping Port London Gateway Unloads First Giant Vessel - A Bulk Carrier!

Sat Feb 23 09:19:38 CET 2013 arnekiel

London Gateway, DP World’s development of the new container port in the Thames Estuary, shipped in its own gateway this week with the arrival of 90,000 tonnes of aggregate to be used in the construction of its fully automated port gate complex. The shipping terminal, due to open later this year, saw the bulk cargo vessel Yeoman Bridge moored alongside one of the completed deep water berths to discharge the initial building materials for what will become a state of the art entry and exit point utilising state of the art technology including optical character recognition to read container and vehicle information to manage traffic through the gate process. Colin Hitchcock, London Gateway Harbour Master, pointed out that at 249 metres overall and with a 14 metre draft the Yeoman Bridge was the largest aggregate ship to come this far up the River Thames to date. http://www.handyshippingguide.com/shipping-news/new-container-shipping-port-unloads-first-giant-vessel-a-bulk-carrier!_4400
