Search for missing crew member suspended
The search for a missing sailor from the "Eships Shamal" were suspended in the night of Sep 3, 2017. The Operation was launched at 12.30 p.m. by the CROSS Etel after it was informed by the ship of the disappearance of one of its Crew members. The ship, was anchored in the waiting area of the port of Saint-Nazaire, 7,5 nautical miles off Saint-Gildas Point. The CROSS immediately alerted a Dauphin helicopter of the French Navy as well as the SNSM-boats of Noirmoutier and Pornichet. At 6:45 p.m. the helicopters were stood down. The search was joined by the lifeboats of Pornic and Croisic. It was suspended at 11:15 p.m. The CROSS Etel broadcasted all night Long a "Mayday Relay" messages to the vessels in the area.
