Mon Sep 17 16:22:44 CEST 2018 arnekiel

UK – Teesport has become the first port facility to actively address the problem of plastics polluting the country's waterways, with operator PD Ports signing up to the Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) initiative. The project, which has already seen freight group XPO Logistics come on board, is run in the UK by the British Plastics Federation (BPF), and aims to ensure that the plastic pellets, flakes and powders that pass through manufacturing facilities in the UK are handled with the care they deserve and do not end up in rivers or the ocean.

‘Short sea operator acquired an additional container vessel to operate three departures a week from the Broekman Distriport terminal Botlek to PD Ports in Teesport’ ‘A fantastic add on to our Moerdijk services,” says Gerard de Groot managing director of A2B-online. “We are always looking for new opportunities whereby the requirement of our customers and the hinterland connections play a vital role. Both items do apply creating this new short sea service’. ‘The Broekman Distriport terminal is located in the middle of a chemical cluster of companies in the Botlek and as a tri-modal, multipurpose terminal it is ideally suited to cater to the increased demand of multimodality’, according to Rik Pek, Managing Director of Broekman Terminals. ‘Connections with various European destinations such as Norway, Spain and Poland, the availability of a RoRo ramp, quick access to the A15 highways and trains arriving from Italy and Germany make it a strategic hub between deep- and short sea’, he continues, ‘Of course we are very excited about this development and we are very are much looking forward to the cooperation with A2B-online’.

Northern English ports form association

Thu Sep 15 10:23:14 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Ports in northern England are coming together to create what they are terming a “gateway to the world”. The new Northern Ports Association sees PD Ports in Teesport, and the ports of Tyne, Liverpool and Hull join forces. Geoff Lippitt, business development director at PD Ports, said: “The launch of the Northern Ports Association is incredibly positive. It will unite us in developing a stronger, more progressive and prosperous northern economy linked to international trade.” To date, English ports have been dominated by those in the south of the country. Ports combining forces to better market themselves has become a common trait across the world in the past couple of years. http://splash247.com/northern-english-ports-form-association/
