Collision near Weurt

On Sep 24, 2017, around 5.30 a.m. the Dutch flagged container barge "Oriana“, 5570 ts (EU-No.: 02330688) was in collision with the "Tinaco“, 1252 ts (ENI-No.: 06003053), on the Waal near Weurt. The tank barge was sailing river downstream and had just left the East Canal at Nijmegen when the container barge, which was coming from Nijmegen and was sailing towards Neuss, hit. Large areas of the hull of the "Tinaco" were torn up at starboard side when the larger ship hit. Luckily she was unloaded, otherwise an large scale oil spill would have been the consequence. The ship berthed in the west port at Nijmegen after the accident.
