Cruise aborted after collision

The 103 passengers of the 'Thurgau Prestige' which were on board besides 36 crew members were transferred back to Switzerland on Dec 18 as the cruise ship has to be repaired. The ship left Speyer on Dec 22 at 9 a.m. and headed to Hardinxveld with an ETA as of Dec 24. .Eight of nine passengers who were treated in hospital were meanwhile released. On the whole 20 passengers suffered injuries.The collision was still being investigated. 20 injured in head-on-collision at Speyer

The 'Alukard', 2540 ts (EU-No.: 02327562), on its way from Mannheim with a cargo of 2.003 tons diesel, was in a head-on-collision with the 'Thurgau Prestige', 2039 dwt (EU-No.: 07001906;), which was on its way to Frankfurt, on the Rhine at Speyer on Dec 19, 2019, at 10.15 p.m. Both ships were damaged above the waterline and managed to enter the oil port of Speyer after the accident. 20 passengers of the river cruise ship were injured and taken to hospital with bruises and fractures. The investigation into the accident was going on on Dec 20, but bad visibility by fog was thought to have contributed.
