Russian seafarer fled from board after seven months
A 32 year old Russian crew member of the 'Rix Stream' was reported missing in Lubmin on June 8, 2020, after he did not return onto the ship. He was found by the police in Greifswald. Seven months aboard the vessel had caused psychic problems. The rescue service had already been notified about a helpless person in a park when the police managed to get in contact with the man by phone. He had an elevated temperature and was checked in the University Hospital in Greifswald. A COVID-19 infection was then excluded. During interrogations with the police it turned out that the man had initially been hired for four months on the ship, but due to the pandemic the stay has been enlengthened to seven months now which he was unable to bear. The man was facing an investigation for illegal migration, but he also got a transit visa back home to Russia. He was repatriated the same day.
