Accident in Brunsbüttel
On Feb 2, 2020, around 10 a.m. the 'OOCL Rauma' tore off a chain of a fender raft inside the new northern lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The ship was enroute from Kotka to Rotterdam and was allowed to continue its voyage. The accident was to be investigated upon the next transit of the waterway. The ship was expected in Rotterdam on March 3 at noon. It had just left the port on Feb 21 following repairs of damages caused by a container loss in the Northsea and arrived in Kotka on Feb 28 in the frame of its feeder service.
Paper washed up in Denmark
Significant quantities of paper have been washed up on the Danish Wadden island of Fanø. The paper was stored inside the containers that fell from the 'OOCL Rauma' on Feb 11. Besides the paper, the containers contained cardboard and milk powder. It was not known whether the powder was packaged in plastic or not. On the Danish beach the paper remains were spread over several kiloometers. The 'OOCL Rauma' shifted from the Shortsea Container Terminal North in Rotterdam to the ECT Delta Container Terminal Amazonehaven in the night of Feb 18. She finally left the port of Rotterdam again on Feb 21 at 8.30 p.m., headed to Helsinki with an ETA as of Fevb 26.
