Freighter detained in Brake

Upon entering the port of Brake on June 12, 2018, coming from Marin, the police remarked that the freeboard mark of the "O.T. Ideaal" was only slightly above the waterline, but the ship was leaning to port side. The freeboards were measured by the officials, and it fwas found that the freeboard fell below the allowed mark by seven centimeters. The Russian captain controleld the ballast tanks and found that the content was more than expected. Whether a faulty operation or a technial fault was responsible, was unclear and had to be determined by thee calssification society. The shp was detaied and a port state control carried out. The master had to pay a safety deposit of 1.000 Euros. The ship left Brake again at 9.35 p.m. and headed to Le Trait, ETA June 15.
