Overloaded tanker detained

Thu Apr 14 21:31:15 CEST 2016 Timsen

The "Narcea" was found to be overloaded during a control of the water police Brunsbüttel while the tanker was transiting the locks of the Kiel Canal enroute from Szczecin to Aviles in the foremidday of Apr 13, 2016. The draught was 3,9 centimeters too much which was an equivalent of 49,725 tons cargo. The master had to pay a safety fine, and the ship was detained on the Neufeld roads. After 35 tons Ballast water and 15 tons drinking water were pumped off, the draught was corrected. The Police launched an investigation against the master.

Tanker diverted to distressed yacht

Mon May 28 11:57:08 CEST 2012 Timsen

On May 27, 2012, aroudn 1 p.m. the "Narcéa" on its way from Rotterdam to Leixoes alerted the MRCC Etel that the Dutch 5-m-yacht "Le Pélican" was in distress with damaged rudder and disabled engine in adverse weather 118 miles south of Penmarc'h with a crew of two. The chemical tanker diverted towards the boat to evacuate its crew. But on scene the weather conditions with 6-7 bf wind were too bad to lower a boat, so the MRCC sent an EC 225 helicopter of the Navy which hoisted the men and took them to the Air Base Lanvéoc-Poulmic.
