Fire in Terneuzen
The "Argo", 1040 ts (EU-No.: 02313805) caught fire on the Wester Scheldt east of Terneuzen in the evening of Jan 19, 2016. The ship, loaded with stones, was coming from Gent-Terneuzen Canal and was en route to Stuttgart. The crew had to turn at Griete around at 5.35 p.m. because of problems which proved to be a fire in the engine room. Two tugs of Multraship, the "Multratug 12" and "Multratug 22", escorted the barge to the eastern foreport of the eastern lock at Terneuzen where the Maritime Incident Response Group (MIRG) Team was ready. When they inspected the ship it appeared that the fire was already out. There was still some smoke, and the fire department ventilated the ship.
