Grounding off Tanjung Pelepas
The "Maersk Edmonton" ran aground while entering Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, on June 14, 2018 at noon. Two tugs immediately came to assist, and the ship was freed within less than 30 minutes. The tugs pulled the vessel to the Singapore West Anchorage where it moored in pos. 01° 14.37' N 103° 30.80' E. At 3.45 p.m. the ship finally berthed at the Tanjung Container Terminal.
MAERSK EDMONTON moves from 'AE10' to 'AE2' as Triple-E phases in
Maersk Line is to upscale significantly its Far East to Europe service ‘AE2′, in a move that will see many of today’s 8,400 teu units replaced by ships of 13,000 teu or larger. The fleet exchange is triggered by the deliveries of numerous units of Maersk Line’s giant 18,270 teu triple-E-class ships. As these new leviathans phase into the carrier’s ‘AE10′ (#4) service, they successively replace ‘smaller’ ships of the 13,000 teu class, which in turn switch to the ‘AE2′.
