Engine trouble off Selsey Bay

Wed Nov 06 13:20:07 CET 2019 Timsen

The ‘Karla C.‘, en route from Rotterdam to Sagunto, suffered problems with its main engine 21 nautical miles South of Selsey Bay, in position 50 26 12.0 N, 000 38 30.0 W, on Nov 5, 2019, at 11.40 p.m. The engineer estimated one hour to repair the damage. The defect was rectified at 12.15 a.m. on Nov 6, and the vessel continued on its voyage to Spain. The vessel was carrying a cargo of 6.800 tons of steel coils.

Swimmer had near miss with cargo ship

Thu Sep 11 10:10:56 CEST 2014 Timsen

A man, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, narrowly avoided the "Karla C" shortly on Sep 7, 2014, on the Blyth where the vessel was approaching the Battleship Wharf. The RNLI Blyth’s inshore lifeboat with three volunteer crew on-board was requested to attend the scene approximately quarter of a mile from the lifeboat station as concern grew over the safety of the person in the water. The male refused assistance from the lifeboat crew and he made his own way to a set of ladders and climbed out.
