Rescue operation for gas tanker with water ingress

On Feb 19, 2015, at 10:40 a.m. the "Yara Gas III" suffered water ingress in the engine room enroute from Porsgrunn to Tees about 50 nautical miles east of Ekofisk. The LNG tanker had a crew of nine people aboard. At 12:50 three bilge pumps were delivered from Ekofisk with its helicopter. In addition, a SeaKing helicopter from Solar delivered two pumps. The SeaKing helicopter of the MRCC went on standby on a nearby platform until the situation was stable. By 4 p.m. the situation seemed to be under control, no one had to be evacuated from the ship. A tug was sent to tow the tanker to shore later.

In the evening of Nov 13, 2011, the "Yara Gas 3" suffered an engine blackout and collided with the "Pro Veritate" which was moored in the Side Canal A of the Gent-Terneuzen-Canal. The "Yara Gas 3" then dropped anchor in order to prevent a grounding. The tugs "Multratug 2" and "Zelzate" were soon on scene and kept the tanker on position. The "Pro Veritate" which was loaded with macadam, was significantly damaged as wekk as the adjacent work pontoon of Deltakust and the quay. The hull of the "Pro Veritate" was breached by the bulbous bow of the "Yara Gas 3" and caused water ingress. Divers of Underwater Contractors Diver from Terneuzen tried to stop the pathc the leakage. The "Yara Gas 3" was moored in the Yara Port at 6.30 a.m. on Nov 14. Dutch report with photos: http://www.tugspotters.com/dev/index.php?itemid=41935
