Collision in Sea of Marmara

The "Hizir" was in collision with the Turkish cargo m/v "Sener 1" on Feb 25, 2014, in the Sea of Marmara, odin.tc reports. The accident happened 17 miles off Gallipoli in the Dardanelles. The "Hizir" struck the "Sener 1" at starboard side, and both vessel suffered damages. The "Sener 1" was en route from Constanta Romania to Haifa, the "Hizir" was en route from Mersin to Izmit. Both vessel had to be anchored for damage surveys and investigations.

Insolvency threatens investments

The ship funds "MS Pacific Sun GmbH & Co. KG" has submitted an application of insolvency in July 2011 after insufficient maintenance of the ship caused it to achieve no more income. Following a damage of the main engine the ship was no longer operating since July 7 and remained idle at the Cockerill Quay in Oostende since. Fund investors now face the danger of losing their entire investment.
