Repairs of grounding damage completed
The "Symphony Sky", which had run aground off Husum in the afternoon of March 26 off the Husumfabrik, and which had been under repair in Gdynia since Apr 8, left the port again on June 9 at 8.45 p.m. next being bound to Pasajes, ETA June 16.
Pulp carrier refloated
The "Symphony Sky" was refloated off the industrial port of Husum shortly before 8 p.m. on March 29 by the tug "Kampe" (MMSI: 265515010). She then proceeded to the quay in Husum under own power for a thorough inspection. During the day, divers had examined the damage to the ship. They found four holes in the ballast tanks and the water has penetrated into a cavity. In port an assessment will be carried out to find out whether it is possible to continue on to a shipyard for repairs. The Coast Guard was on site to assist the salvage efforts and have a response capability if oil leaked out in connection with the salvage. The ship was loaded with 1.000 tons pulp and destinated for Motril when it got stuck in the shallows at 2.36 p.m. on March 28. Attempts to get the ship off without external assistance by by moving the hatches and pumping out ballast water had failed.
