Tank barge suffered water ingress

In the Au Port of Muttenz near Basel the "Fint", 2332 ts (EU-No.: 04033370), suffered water ingress at its berth at the Inrag AG at the Rhine shopre in the morning of May 19, 2018. The cargo inside the affected hold was pumped into another tank. The situation was stable and under control, no pollution was reported. The fire rescue and the police Basel as well as personnel of the Switzerland Rhineports were on scene. The ship had berthed on May 18 with a cargo of diesel fuel on board at 5.40 p.m, coming from Weil upon Rhine and was bound to Birsfelden. The barge left the port again on May 22 at 1 p.m. and headed to Colonia, ETA May 24. Smoke development on barge

On June 12, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. the water police in Duisburg was alerted because smoke emerged from the "Fint", 2332 ts (EU-No.: 04033370), which was enroute from Duisburg to Birsfelden with a cargo of 2190 tons diesel, on the Rhine 300 meters off the Zoo Bridge in Colonia. Two fire boats of the fire rescue Colonia and Bonn and on the whole 47 rescue forces were deployed to the ship, while a helicopter was monitoring the scene. It turned out that a diesel fuel line had ruptured, and fuel spilt onto the turbo charger causing the smoke development. The 10 people aboard were not endangered. The insulation which was smouldering was removed from the engine room, and the barge taken alongside a fire boat and berthed in Colonia. It was planned to tow the disabled vessel to Mülheim for repairs. Tanker refloated

On Dec 27 at 4.18 p.m. the Dutch "Fint", 2332 ts (EU-No.: 04033370; CS: PC6350), which had run aground enroute from Mannheim to Godorf on Dec 24, was refloated six hours after the salvage started by the Dutch flagged, barge "Dynamica", the pusher tug "Rheinland" and the tank barge "Magnolia". One salvage attempt with a tug in the morning had failed. The Rhine was barred for ship traffic between 5 and 4.20 p.m. After a first inspection the ship was allowed to proceed a yard in Duisburg for more thorough surveys.
