4 crew of tanker Caspian Stream injured after burst of petroliferous vapour
MRCC Moscow reported a burst of petroliferous vapour in an empty tank of product tanker Caspian Stream at 1950 Moscow time on July 23. The tanker was under way in Tsimlyanskiy Basin, river Volga. 4 people injured, 2 of them hospitalized. Vessel docked in Volgodonsk for investigation.

The "Caspian Stream" was refloated on Nov 22, 2010, and is heading for Astrakhan with a cargo of 6,000 tons of oil products of OAO LUKOIL. The ship while passing via Volga-Caspian Canal on Nov. 21 ran aground near the port of Astrakhan, Volga km 3,057.8. There were no damages to the hull or oil spill reported. According to the radar at the time of the accident the ship was within the fairway." Palmali believes the accident was caused by a low water level in the Volga River (- 79 cm from the planned depth) and the absence of buoyant conditions in the canal due to the closure of the navigation.
