Accident report published
On March 6, 2019, the German ship accident investigation commission has published its report on the grounding of the "Glory Amsterdam" off Langeoog: https://www.bsu-bund.de/SharedDocs/pdf/DE/Unfallberichte/2019/Untersuchungsbericht_408_17.pdf;jsessionid=D27A65BA9F2C3B6EF71F8257B286485C.live21302?__blob=publicationFile&v=3
Investigation against Chinese captain to have cut towing wire stopped due to a lack of suspicion
After the grounding of the "Glory Amsterdam" off Langeoog in October 2017, the public prosecutor's office Oldenburg has stopped the investigation against the captain on May 31, 2018, due to a lack of suspicion. The Chinese captain of the "Glory Amsterdam" was accused of a possible complicity in a failed tow maneuver. The prosecutor could not prove that he had purposely prevented the towing of the freighter in the frame of an insurance crime. During the investigation, a severed throwing line has been secured which had probably been cut through. According to the authority, however, it could not be clarified who was responsible for this. The crew of "Glory Amsterdam" denied that they had anything to do with it. A punishable threat to the shipping traffic by the captain or a crew member could not be proved.
Repairs of grounding damage completed
The "Glory Amsterdam" left the German Drydock Yard in Bremerhaven, where she had been docked for repairs since Nov 7, 2017, on Feb 15 at 10 p.m. and headed to Puerto Bolivar as next port of call, ETA MArch 3.
