Car lost over board

Fri Sep 02 12:40:09 CEST 2022 Timsen

A vehicle on the ‘Benchijigua Express’ fell off the ferry into the water last week, during a crossing between San Sebastián de La Gomera and Los Cristianos in the south of Tenerife. The shipping company is investigating the incident, claiming at the moment they don’t know how it came loose and got lost overboard, because the vehicle was supposed to be correctly secured when it was in the front row, in accordance with the stowage procedures.

Engine trouble caused delays

Sat Oct 20 22:19:06 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Benchijigua Express" has been facing problems of propulsion and suffered delays on the route La Gomera-Los Cristianos-La Palma, arriving almost at midnight on Oct 19, 2018, which was inconvenient for both passengers and the crew. Technicians from the manufacturer of the MTU engines installed in the vessel have been caled from Germany to try to resolve the problem along with the personnel of Fred. Olsen Express, so that it regains its usual speed as soon as possible. The speed of the ship actually was between 24 and 26 knots instead of 34 knots.
