Bad Bramstedt saved two from sinking f/v in the Weser
The "Bad Bramstedt" went to assist the sinking former f/v "Gisela" on Mar 7, 2013, in the outer Weser. The German ship had reported water ingress at 3.15 p.m. The MRCC Bremen dispatched the lifeboat "Vormann Steffens“ of the DGzRS-Station Hooksiel. First on scene was the "Bad Bramstedt" and went on standby at 3.50 p.m. A helicopter hovered above the "Gisela" until help was at hand. The crew of two had no raft on board. Timewise the situation seemed to be under control, as the water ingress did not increase. The "Vormann Steffen“ started to tow the "Gisela" towards Bremerhaven and started dewatering attempts. The lifeboat "Hermann Rudolf Meyer“ was preparing to take the tow later, but suddenly the water ingress incresed, so that the rope had to be slipped at 6.45 p.m. Before the ship sank, it was pulled outside the fairway near the Roter Sand l/h at the Tegeler Rinne where it foundered between the buoys T3 and T5. The "Bad Bramstedt" took off the crew of two and transported them to Cuxhaven. The police launch "WSP 5" from Wilhelmshaven attended too.
