The 'Margaret Norvell' was among the units of the US Coast Guard, which searched for five missing people from a suspected failed smuggling venture on April 13, 2025,, approximately 29 miles off the St. Lucie Inlet. An Air Station Miami aircrew had rescued four people and transported them to local emergency medical services at Stuart Airport. One more was recovered dead, three suffered non-life threatening injuries and one has serious injuries. After the rescue, a survivor reported the vessel had departed Bimini with nine people on board on Aprl 11, and it had capsized on the early morning of Apil 12. The area was searched by air and sea for approximately seven hours, covering more than 1,240 square miles, before the operation was supsended. Besides the 'Margaret Norvell', the Coast Guard Stations Lake Worth Inlet and Fort Pierce , the Coast Guard Air Stations Miami and Clearwater, the Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, the Homeland Security Investigations, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the Martin County Sheriff's Office and the Martin County Fire Rescue were involved. Global Ports Holdings (GPH) is to operate Prince George Wharf and related areas at Nassau Cruise Port in The Bahamas for the next 25 years. According to an agreement with the Government of The Bahamas, GPH has joined forces with the Bahamas Investment Fund and the Yes Foundation to create the Nassau Cruise Port Ltd. (NCP) consortium. GPH will use its global expertise and operating model to manage Nassau Cruise Port. “I am delighted that NCP has signed a port operation and lease agreement for Prince George Wharf at Nassau Cruise Port,” said Mehmet Kutman, chairman and co-founder of GPH.

Kudos Trucking Company has ordered two Konecranes Noell Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes and two Konecranes Gottwald Model 5 Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHCs) for their terminal in Davao City, the Philippines. Konecranes booked the order in June 2019.
GRANDE COSTA DAVORI
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will convene a public board meeting on April 15 to determine what caused the fire aboard the 'Grande Costa D’Avorio' that claimed the lives of two firefighters in Newark, New Jersey. on July 5, 2023. It had started when a pusher vehicle operated by shoreside workers caught fire while loading cars on an interior garage deck. The situation turned tragic when two land-based firefighters became disoriented in the smoke-filled decks and died. Six additional emergency responders sustained injuries during the response operations. The local fire department responding to the incident had little to no maritime firefighting training, experience, or familiarization with cargo ships of any type, according to preliminary findings from the ongoing Coast Guard investigation.
GLEN SANNOX
On April 14, the 'Glen Sannox', serving on the route Troon-Brodick, suffered a control issue with the passenger lifts with only one lift remaining in operation. This had to be controlled by a crew member. The issue was expected have an effect on the turn around times of the ferry at the port. The issue has not yet been resolved as of April 15.
Ancona
Fincantieri floated Silversea’s new ultra-luxury cruise ship, Silver Moon, out of the building dock at its yard in Ancona, Italy on 29 August. Representatives from Fincantieri and Silversea and other invited guests watched as the 596-guest ship touched water for the first time during a traditional coin ceremony. Fincantieri will now work with its partners to outfit the vessel’s interiors ahead of her sea trials and delivery in 2020. “Today, with the float out of Silver Moon, we draw ever-closer to achieving my father’s dream of a 12-ship fleet,” said Manfredi Lefebvre, Silversea’s executive chairman.

The Koper port placed 80th on this year’s list of 900 best connected container ports in the world, published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad). The port has been listed the highest among all Adriatic Sea container ports since the first such ranking in 2006. The first place went to the Shanghai port, while the port of Antwerp was the best in Europe, having been placed 6th in the world.
BALTIC
On April 12, 2025, a crew member of the 'Baltic' sustained serious injuries. At around 9 a.m., the tug reported to the MRCC in Bremen, that he had fallen from a height of approximately three to four meters and needed urgently medical attention. The "Baltic" was approximately 7.5 nautical miles of Warnemünde at the time. The lifeboat 'Arkona' of the DGzRS station in Warnemünde set sail immediately, taking a volunteer marine doctor aboard the daughter boat 'Caspar'. Once on scene, the 'Arkona' moored alongside the "Baltic" in westerly winds of force three to four Beaufort. The marine , a sea rescuer trained as a paramedic, and a volunteer sea rescuer trained as a rescue paramedic, embarked onto the tug in moderate sea conditions. They initially stabilized the victim on board the tug and then transferred him to the 'Arkona' on a stretcher. He was transported to Warnemünde, where he was transferred to the shore based rescue service for further transport to hospital.
KIWALA
The authorities in Estonia have, during an inspection of the 'Kiwala', which was intercepted in the Baltic Sea by units from the Estonian Navy, found 40 shortcomings and deficiencies. Inspectors from the Transport Administration conducted a full-day inspection and identified several significant deficiencies. Of on the whole 40 deficiencies being found, 29 were deemed significant and formed the basis for detaining the vessel. 23 of those were documentation-related, while others concerned failures in the ship’s safety management system, crew emergency preparedness, and technical malfunctions. Estonian authorities stated that the vessel lacks a valid flag state and insurance. The ship could not to continue sailing, as it could endanger safety at sea and the marine environment. According to the ship's Chinese captain, the tanker is registered in Djibouti, which was however rejected by Djibouti, which has not been able to find the ship in its ship registe after having withdrawn the flage due to previous illegal activities of the ship, which has changed owners and names several times in recent years. The tanker had thus entered the Gulf of Finland on April 10 without valid flag state certification or insurance. The vessel is also subject to sanctions imposed by the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, and Switzerland for past illicit conduct. After entering Estonia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the ship was contacted and directed into Estonian territorial waters for inspection. The tanker is sailing in ballast and was on its way to Ust-Luga in Russia, when the Estonian authorities intervened, exercising its rights and international obligations to inspect a stateless vessel. Operating without a flag leaves a vessel outside any national jurisdiction, violating international maritime norms. The majority of the ship's 24-man crew is from China, the rest from Mauritania. Konecranes Port Services will retrofit electrification to a Model 2 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor crane in DP World’s Liège Container Terminal in Belgium, lowering the terminal’s local emissions and noise. Strategically located along the Meuse river in eastern Belgium, the Port of Liège is the third-largest river port in Europe, directly linked to both Antwerp and Rotterdam. The DP World Liège Container Terminal (DPW LCT) is the only trimodal terminal in Wallonia, operating four barges to Antwerp every week.
Gdansk
The world’s largest container ship MSC Gulsun arrived at container terminal DCT Gdańsk on Friday. During its stop, 11,000 containers will be reloaded, which means the largest regular container exchange in Europe. MSC Gulsun is the first ship in the world with a width of 24 rows of containers and a capacity of 23,756 TEU.
