Bulk Carrier Boarded and Robbed by Pirates During Heavy Rain
On 20 July 2011 at 03:30 LT, pirates boarded and robbed the bulk carrier Diana at Huangpu Port anchorage in position 22 45' 0" N, 113 38' 42" E, 1nm offshore Nansha, and 20.5nm SE of Huangpu Port, China on bearing 335 during heavy rains. The duty watchman spotted the pirates on the forecastle deck and alerted the DO. The pirates fled as the crew approached them. A search of the vessel by the crew determined ship's stores has been taken by the pirates. Authorities at VTS Guangzhou were notified of the incident.
