Zubr lost towed tugboat
On Feb 6, 2016, the "Zubr" lost the tug "Vega" it was towing off Hiiumaa Island. The "Vega" was not seaworthy, it had no crew on board and no registration, flag or similar when it sank 11 miles southwest of Ristna. The wreck was lying at a depth of about 45 meters. Since a tow-rope about 200 meters long remained attached the the sunken boat, the Maritime Administration issued a navigation warning to all vessels in a radius of half a nautical mile of the sunken boat. The tow-rope may be afloat and hence pose a danger to ships. Tracks on the seabed identified by the Navy suggest that the "Zubr" pulled the already submerged "Vega" several hundred meters along the sea bottom before the tow rope snapped.
