Disabled shrimper towed to Oudeschild

Wed Nov 02 09:18:49 CET 2016 Timsen

In the evening of Oct 31, 2016, the lifeboat "De Redder", actually serving as a replacement boat for the "Beurplein 5" at the KNRM-station De Cocksdorp, was requested to assist the "Lauwerszee - ZK 20" which had suffered an engine failure in the Wadden Sea. The rescuers of the station were already out for a weekly practice night. The lifeboat took the shrimper in tow and pulled it first towards deeper water on the North Sea, since the water level was too low at the ship's position. Then the convoy headed to Texel and further on via the Marsdiep to Oudeschild. Off the port of Oudeschild the lifeboat "Johanna Maria", actually replacing the "Cornelis Dito" at the KNRM-station Oudeschild, took over the and pulled the trawler into port jointly with the "De Redder" where it was safely moored.
