Zeldenrust pushed to Schiedam
In the afternoon of Oct 23 the pusher boat "Joop 1" started to move the "Zeldenrust" from Ijmuiden on to Schiedam where the damage is to be surveyed at the base of Mammoet. It had been decided that it was safer to take an inland passage rather than taking the way along the Dutch Northsea coast. Zeldenrust afloat again
The "Zeldenrust" was refloated on Oct 22 at 6 p.m. and was pulled stern first towards deep water before being towed to Mammoet in Schiedam. On Oct 23 the damage was to be assessed but the fact that the ship could be towed, showed that she remained seaworthy. The ship suffered a leak in the engine room in the grounding which was meanwhile sealed.
