Third major drug bust in three weeks
South African police have made their third major drug bust of cocaine being smuggled into the country from Brazil in as many weeks. Combined the drugs seized had a total value of approximately $11.75 million and were part of a broader effort to stop the illegal flow of narcotics. The seizure happened on Nov 2, 2023, when the police found 35 blocks of cocaine hidden aboard the 'Zea Servant', which had arrived from Brazil at Port Elizabeth. The police had been targeting the ship based on intelligence they received. No arrests were made, but the ship was detained until Nov 6, when it lef the port en route to Mumbai.
