Medevac off Pointe de la Hague

Mon Jan 23 12:18:31 CET 2023 Timsen

Following a serious hand injury in the afternoon ofJan 21, 2023, a fisherman had to be medevaced from the 'Flamingo-Z 548' off the coast of La Hague (Manche), about 30 miles from the Pointe de la Hague. The skipper of a trawler requested assistance from the CROSS Jobourg, which established a conference call with the maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse and the maritime medical coordination service in Le Havre. A medevac was recommended, and the CROSS deployed a Cayman helicopter of the French Navy with a medical team on board. which was dropped off aboard the trawler to prepare the injured for the evacuation. He was hoisted and taqken to the port of Cherbourg where he was taken care of by the firefighters and transported to the Pasteur hospital center.

Several lifeboats assisted leaking Flamingo to port

Wed May 06 09:38:25 CEST 2015 Timsen

The lifeboats of the KNRM in Scheveningen, Hoek van Holland and Ter Heijde were alerted on May 5 at 7.30 p.m. after the "Flamingo" was in danger again due to increasing water ingress. The ship was under tow by the "Avatar" approximately ten miles off the coast of Scheveningen. The crew was transferred onto the KNRM-boats switched. Later also the KNRM-station in Stellendam was alerted. Because the situation seemed to stabilize, the convoy slowly continued southwards and to the permission to pass the Maasmond. At 10 p.m., the Dutch Coastguard requested the KNRM-boats of Scheveningen and Ter Heijde not to proceed further from home and asked them to return to their base. The escort was taken over by the KNRM Stellendam. The lifeboat from Hoek van Holland was asked to stay nearby. There were salvage ships en route, and the water level in the holds of the "Flamingo" could be controlled. Around 6 a.m. on May 6 the convoy reached the port of Zeebrugge, and the "Flamingo" was berthed at the fishing quay.
