Trawler rescued 25 migrants
The crew of the 'Z-296' on its way to the Northsea picked up a group of 25 migrants from Iraq and Pakistan, among them a pregnant woman and four children, from the sea pff Pas-de-Calais on Nov 11, 2021, at 1.30 p.m.. They had tried to reach England in a dinghy. The trawler alerted the British Coastguard which was busy bringing another boat with refugees to safety. The engine of the boat had stopped working, and the dinghy bobbed around. They had left France in the evening of Nov 10 with the instruction to sail towards the lights on the other side. The trawler stopped and manoevered next to the zodiac. Initially the refugees refused to come on board, but then the completely exhausted castaways were embarked and got warm blankets. Later they were transferred to a boat of the Border Police.
