Ships under repair in Busan after collision

The "Hanyu Korea" has arrived at Busan, and the permanent repairs of the damages sustained in the collision with the "Samjin Lucky 3" commenced on Aug 20 . The "Samjin Lucky 3" also arrived at Busan on Aug 18 in order to carry out the permanent repairs to the damage sustained in the collision, which were expected to completed by Aug 28.

Collision off Jeju Island

The "Hanyu Korea", en route from Ulsan to Jeju with about 3200 metric tonnes of bunker C, allided with the cargo m/v "Samjin Lucky 3", which was en route from Seogwipo, Jeju to Wando, which was carrying drinking water, on Aug 15, 2018, at 04.10 a.m. at the approximate position 34 09 22 N, 127 54 32 E off Jeju Island. The "Hanyu Korea" suffered damage to side shell plating of port cargo tank no. 3 and leaked some oil into the sea which was successfully cleaned by the Coast Guard, on the same day. The "Samjin Lucky 3" sustained damage to its bow area. She continued its voyage to Wando, upon completion of initial investigations.
