Cargo ship sank sand dredger
In the evening of Nov 15, 2014, the Japanese sand dredger "Hokuhei No. 18" was in collision with the "Yong Sheng VII" 1,5 kilometers off the Nagagusuku Port. At 11 p.m. the sand dredger turned over and sank with about 80% of the ship submerged. The Chinese crew of 14 of the "Yong Sheng 7" rescued all five crew members of the "Hokuhei No. 18". No one man was injured. Oil started spilling from the ship, and the Nakagusuku Coast Guard has set up an oil boom to prevent the spill from spreading. The "Yong Sheng VII" which suffered slight damage was moored in Okinawa port on Nov 17.
