Medevac off San Francisco
The US Coast Guard medevaced an injured crew member from the 'Yang Ming Unanimity' off San Francisco in the evening of April 4, 2020. The 32-year old Taiwanese was hoisted from the vessel around six miles from San Francisco Bay by a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. He had fallen and struck his head on the ship’s radar mast creating a laceration on his forehead as the ship was making its way towards Kobe. Once on scene, the Dolphin crew lowered a rescue swimmer to the container ship to assess the man. The helicopter crew then lowered a rescue basket to hoist the crewmember into the helicopter and transported him to Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto. The patient was reported to be in a stable condition.
