Stena RoRo purchased Japanese ferry

Tue Feb 19 09:51:06 CET 2019 Timsen

Stena RoRo has purchased the "Yamato" ro-pax ferry from the Japanese operator Hankyu Ferry for an unpublished amount. In the European market, the demand is greater than the availability of this type of vessel, and therefore Stena has turned the Asian market, primarily Japan. Sources close to the company suggested that the ship will be rebuilt in a shipyard in Greece, where Japanese-built ferries have been rebuilt for decades, so the experience is great. Stena RoRo's acquisition of the "Yamato" marks the first time that a European operator outside Greece has gone this way.
