Allision off Itaqui
The 'Azul Victoria', while navigating at the Sao Luis anchorage area, allided with the ore carrier 'São Ebba' , which was anchored at São Marcos Bay, São Luis, on Nov 16, 2019, at 06.50 a.m. Both vessels suffered some damage, but no oil spills nor injuries were reported. Representants of the classification Societiesy of the vessels attended for damage assessment and planning the repairs. The 'Azul Victoria' and 'São Ebba' were intended to call at the Ponta da Madeira terminal in Sao Luis, to load iron ore in bulk. Both vessel remained moored at the Itaqui anchorage area as of Nov 20. The 'Azul Victoria' on Dec 7 sailed from the Ponta da Madeira Inner anchorage headed to Setubal, Portugal, ETA Jan 5, 2020. The 'Sao Ebba' after temporary repair safely loaded its cargo of iron ore at the Ponta da Madeira Terminal from Nov 23 to Nov 25, and subsequently proceeded its voyage.
Bulkcarrier disabled under tow in South Pacific
Since Nov 24, 2017, the "Azul Victoria" was disabled and adrift in the South Atlantic since Nov 24 about 1.000 miles northwest of Cape Town, while en route from Singapore to San Paulo. The tug "APL Ippon" (IMO: 9344978) was contracted for salvage, and the bulk carrier was taken on tow towards Cape Town on Nov 27. On Dec 4 they were about 100 miles west of Cape Town, proceeding at five knots speed, ETA Dec 5.
